KPQ Document Number: 909 R 5003 <br />GROUP <br />Procedure Rev: 12 Date: 1/22/13 <br />EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES <br />• Supervisors monitor local weather conditions. <br />Level 3 Alert: <br />• Security is notified of a TORNADO SIGHTING in the vicinity of the plant via <br />direct contact with the Lathrop/Manteca Fire Department. <br />• SECURITY will activate the Emergency Alarm System. <br />• SECURITY will notify Supervisors via all in -plant radios that a tornado has <br />been spotted and the TAKE COVER procedure will be implemented as per <br />the following: <br />Any employees not in their work areas at the time of a TAKE COVER ALARM should <br />take cover in the nearest TAKE COVER Area to their location. When in the shelters, <br />individuals should crouch down along the walls, and cover their heads as much as <br />possible. <br />*STAYAWAYFROM WINDOWS* <br />Those who cannot reach indoor shelter should find a low-lying area such as a ditch <br />and get as close to the ground as possible, lying on your stomach and covering the <br />back of the head with your hands. <br />An ALL CLEAR notification, verified by SECURITY and the INCIDENT OFFICER, will <br />be issued over all plant radio bands before a safe return to work can occur. <br />Precautions (When Time Permits) <br />• Shut down operations using appropriate classification. <br />• Secure loose material or move to shelter items such as pallets, empty drums, <br />etc. <br />• Forklifts (with forks in the down position) and the pickup truck should be put <br />under cover. <br />• Stop unnecessary outside activities. <br />• Notify and direct all visitors to appropriate tornado shelters. <br />• Partially fill empty tanks with water to one-third level. <br />H:\profile\My Documents\500 E. louise ave (CIA LOF)\9-25-13\909R5003 Emergency Response Procedures.doc <br />Page 51 of 67 <br />Paper Copies are Not Controlled unless stamped in RED "Controlled Document'.
