Lodi City Landfill November 16,2011
• North of Awani Drive,Lodi,California Project No. 104690061
10.4. Subsurface Utilities
A private geophysical company will assess the proposed LFG well and exploratory trench
locations to evaluate and identify potential buried utilities and/or other subsurface anoma-
lies. A combination of electromagnetic induction, magnetometry, ground penetrating radar
and a utility locator with line tracing capabilities will be used during the survey. If subsur-
face utility conflicts are identified, then the proposed exploration area will be adjusted.
11. SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
This section describes the activities to be conducted for the subsurface investigation. The areas to
be evaluated were generally established based on the following: accessibility, the objectives of
this project, reviewed background information (previous geotechnical and environmental reports
for the landfill and adjacent properties), site reconnaissance conducted in October 2011, and re-
view of available historical aerial photographs (Appendices A through Q. As previously
i indicated, this work plan pertains to the Lodi City Landfill defined as an approximately 3.7-
acre site located north of the intersection of Awani and Mokelumne River Drives and east of
the railroad tracks. Although not known at this time, based on review of available historical
aerial photographs, it appears waste disposal may have also occurred west of the railroad
tracks at the location of the private gated River Pointe community. Therefore, this work plan
pertains to the areas both west and east of the railroad tracks, and includes the current River
Pointe private residential development, formerly a winery, and the Lodi City Landfill area
currently defined as the 3.7-acre site.
Based on this information, approximately ten LFG wells will be constructed and ten exploratory
trenches will be excavated. Authoritative protocol will be used to allow the project manager the
flexibility to move, add or delete sampling locations, as necessary, and to accommodate unforeseen
field conditions. Field activities will be performed by field personnel, who will be a California Pro-
fessional Geologist, California Certified Engineering Geologist, or California Professional Engineer
or experienced personnel working directly under the registered professional. This section describes
the activities conducted for the site investigation.
104690061 R 5nWAM 22 ry/17-Va-*0a r 8
