Lodi City Landfill November 16,2011
North of Awani Drive,Lodi, California Project No. 104690061
10.2. Site Specific Health and Safety Plan
The CalRecycle Health and Safety Section will prepare a SHSP that identifies the potential
chemical and physical hazards that may be encountered during the field activities. The SHSP
will be prepared in compliance with OSHA requirements, and will be implemented during
the subsurface site investigation. The plan will address field procedures, personal protection
equipment, anticipated contaminants, and establish action levels for exposure to contami-
nants and contingency plans for emergencies that may arise during the fieldwork.
Prior to commencing field activities, site workers will be required to read and sign the SHSP,
acknowledging their familiarity with its provisions and commitment to adhering to its re-
quirements. In addition, the SHSP will provide guidelines for use of personal protective
equipment based on site-specific conditions, constituents of potential concern (COPC), and
the location of and directions to the nearest hospital. The SHSP will include information re-
garding health and safety monitoring guidelines that will be conducted during site activities
. to protect on-site personnel. Prior to beginning fieldwork at the site, the SSO will conduct a
tailgate meeting and discuss the key features of the plan (a tailgate safety meeting will be
conducted each day prior to the commencement of fieldwork). If hazardous or radioactive
materials are found during sampling screening activities, appropriate level of notification and re-
sponse procedures will be implemented in accordance with the SHSP.
10.3. LFG Well and Exploratory Trench Locations Mark Out and Utility Clearance
Prior to conducting fieldwork, the proposed LFG wells and exploratory trench locations will
be staked in the field with painted wooden stakes and survey flagging or if in asphalt paved
areas, with white paint. Proposed LFG well and trench locations and rationale for their se-
lection are discussed later in this work plan. USA, a public utility locator that contacts utility
companies that may have potential underground utilities or structures in the areas, will be
notified, as required by law.
104690061 R Snal.doc 21 /#7 `` ®®rp—
