STATE OF CALIFORNIA—YOUTH AND ADULT CORRECTIONAL AGENCY GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WOMEN'S FACILITY :A
P.O. BOX 213006
STOCKTON, CA 95213.9006
AUG 10
John Carlson
Director,
Community Development Department
City
6 East Lindsay St HOFT per*
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Draft Environmental Impact Report on the Proposed Expansion
of the Austin Road Sanitary Landfill
Dear Yr . Carlson:
The Northern California Women's Facility (NCWF) and the
California Department of Corrections (CDC) are very sympathetic
and understanding of the problems associated with the disposal of
solid waste. NCWF is extremely concerned on what the impact will
be on chemical's and metals leaching into the aquifer .
NCWF's potable water is supplied from wells located on the
Northern California Youth Center 's property which is adjacent to
the proposed landfill expansion. NCWF houses approximately 800
Inmates and provides ,lobs for 210 employees . It is imperative
the wells do not become contaminated .
NCWF is requesting that the E. I .R. clearly identifies safeguards
which would eliminate any ground water contamination from solid
waste or sludge.
Thank you,
►`tet-----.-
TERESA ROCBA
Warden (A)
