Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
WINTERIZATION PLAN FOR AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL
The following Winterization Plan is submitted for review and approval:
I. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF WINTER DISPOSAL SITE:
The location of the disposal area that will be utilized this winter at the Austin Road Landfill
(Landfill) is shown on Figure 1 (page 2). It is estimated that approximately 65,000 tons of
waste will be received at the Landfill this winter (November through March). This does not
include the green waste that will be used as Alternative Daily Cover (ADC) at the Landfill on
Monday through Thursday. The amount of anticipated waste is based upon the waste received
at the Landfill over the last four months. The reason for using the last four months rather than
the figures from last winter is because starting in June 1995. the City experienced a substantial
increase in waste received at the Landfill.
At any one time, the maximum area of the working face of the Landfill will be 75 feet by nwtl
feet. Depending upon the weather, the thickness of the waste being placed in any area prior to
being covered with soil. could reach a depth of fifteen feet.
II. WINTERIZATION PAD AND ACCESS ROAD:
The pad is made up of a concrete and asphalt chip base approximately 4 feet thick with a 6
inch asphalt top layer. The dimensions of the pad are 90 feet by 125 feet and it provides
sufficient maneuverability for vehicle travel and unloading operations (Figure 2, page 3). In
addition, there is a 30 foot by 125 foot pad made out of crushed tile. This area will be used
for the storing of green waste until it can be placed over the working face (as ADC) on
Monday through Thursday.
l
