M. Environmental Setting,Impacts,and Mitigations A. Land Use,Plans and Policies General Safety Issues : Goal 1: Protect the community from injury and damage resulting from natural catastrophes and hazardous conditions. Policy 1: Development shall only be permitted in those areas where the potential danger to the health and safety of people can be mitigated to an acceptable level. The proposed project site would not present immitigable potential dangers to the health and safety of people as a result of foreseeable natural catastrophes. Refer to Section IELL,.Public Health and Safety,for further discussion of safety issues. Seismic and Other Geologic Hazards Goal 1: Protect the community from the hazards of expansive soils,seismic dangers and other geologic activity. Policy 6: Development proposed within areas of potential geologic hazard shall not be subject to nor contribute to hazardous conditions. The proposed project would not be subject to nor contribute to hazardous geological conditions. Refer to Section III.J,Geology,Soils and Seismicity,for further discussion of potential i geological hazards. Hazardous Materials Goal 1: Protect City residents from the risks involved in the tratisport,distribution,use,and storage of hazardous materials. The disposal of hazardous waste at the Austin Road Landfill is currently,and,under the proposed project,would continue to be prohibited. A portable chemical storage locker would-be used under the proposed project to safely hold intercepted or retrieved hazardous wastes until they can be properly removed from the site. Emergency and Disaster Planning Goal 1: Develop and maintain emergency preparedness programs and emergency health services in order to protect the public. Policy 2: Support and periodically update the various disaster pians concerning Stockton including the City's Emergency Operations Plan. i M.A.1 l
