Determine, if possible,the hazardous substance and its characteristics, such as a pesticide, <br /> herbicide, solvent, paint, explosive, heavy metal, acid, caustic agent (Sodium Hydroxide), <br /> or other substance listed as hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. <br /> 4. Control or Limit the Emergency <br /> a. Use berms or sandbags if necessary to prevent the substance from spreading. <br /> 2.6.2.9 Traffic Accident <br /> 1. Take Safety Precautions <br /> a. Provide first aid to any victims. <br /> b. Isolate the area from other site users and nonessential personnel by directing traffic around <br /> the accident location or temporarily closing the site to any incoming traffic. <br /> 2. Provide Information <br /> a. If emergency response is required, call 911 and provide the following information: <br /> (1) Tell them you are reporting a traffic accident. <br /> (2) From there you may be routed to another person. Tell them: <br /> Facility Name: Austin Road Landfill <br /> Location: Austin Road between Arch and French Camp <br /> Nature of injuries/accident <br /> (3) Answer questions as completely as possible. <br /> (4) Follow all instructions carefully. <br /> (5) Do not hang up the telephone unless told to do so. <br /> (6) Direct any emergency personnel to the proper location when they arrive. <br /> b.
