The following is a list of references for assumptions used in
determining waste quantities listed in Table 2 :
1. The 1994 base annual waste quantity received figure of 140,000 tons
was taken from County Solid Waste Division records. This figure is
the amount of waste landfilled after a 12% reduction due to current
recycling practices at the Lovelace Transfer Station and other
waste diversion activities in the County which impact the Foothill
site's waste stream.
2. The 1995 figure of 210, 000 tons was determined by adding the 1994
figures for the Foothill Sanitary Landfill and the Corral Hollow
Sanitary Landfill, and then increasing that sum by an assumed 5%
annual increase in waste received.
3 . All figures have been rounded to the nearest 1, 000 tons.
4. For the years 1995 through 1999, an additional 13% reduction is
reflected in the "Annual Waste Quantity Landfilled" column. This
meets the 25% reduction goal established by AB 939.
5. For the years 2000 and beyond, waste quantities were reduced an
additional 25% in the "Annual Waste Quantity Landfilled" column to
reflect AB 939 waste diversion goals.
6. The site's current permitted capacity as determined by Solid Waste
Division calculations based on the site's Preliminary Closure Plan
is 56, 163 ,800 tons. This was determined by multiplying the
- airspace available (102 , 116,000 cubic yards) by a waste density of
1100 pounds per cubic yard (0.55 tons/c.y. ) .
10
