Groundwater samples are analyzed every 5 years for the following Constituents of Concern
(CDCs):
• Total organic carbon 0 Cyanide
• Carbonate 0Sulfide
• Bicarbonate 0 Semivolatile Organic Compounds
• Total alkalinity 0 Organochlorine Pesticides, PCBs
• Metals 0 Chlorophenexy Herbicides
Surface Water
Surface water samples are collected after the first storm of the rainy season that produces
significant flow and quarterly thereafter when water is present from monitoring point S-1
(upstream) and monitoring point Sf2 (downstream) of the landfill (see Figure 3).
Surface water samples are analyzed for the following quarterly monitoring and field parameters:
• Temperature 0 TDS
• Electrical conductivity • Chloride
• pH 0 Sulfate
• Turbidity 0 Nitrate-nitrogen
• Total suspended solids
Surface water samples are also analyzed for the following COCs every 5 years:
• Total organic carbon 0 Cyanide
• Carbonate 0 Sulfide
• Bicarbonate 0 Oil and Grease
• Total alkalinity 0 Chemical oxygen demand
' 0 1 Metals 0 Dissolved oxygen
Constituents of Concern
Both groundwater and surface water samples are analyzed for constituents of concern(COCs)
every five years (Appendix E). The last five year COC groundwater monitoring event occurred
in the fourth quarter of 1999. The next monitoring event will occur during the fourth quarter of
2004.
Surface water samples were last analyzed for COCs during the first quarter 2000 monitoring
' event. The next monitoring event for surface water will occur during the first quarter of 2005.
' Foothill Sanitary Landfill Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
e Quarter and Annual 2002 Groundwater Monitoring Report 2 County of San Joaquin
