Wood Bros. excavated the secondary sump trench up
the eastern slope utilizing the John Deere backhoe. Wood Bros. continued to moisture condition the
subgrade.
Tri State continued placement of the rebar for the leachate containment pad.
D&E smooth drum rolled areas of the subgrade that were to be lined today. D&E continued installation of
isBentofix NWL 35 GCL rolls and 60mil double textured liner. D&E continued to deploy on the eastern floor
of Module 1. D&E installed a total of 30 panels of GCL totaling approximately 60,780ft2 and 14 panels of
geomembrane totaling approximately 62,150ff2 all panels were overlapped and seamed per specifications.
D&E performed air tests on the tie-in seam and liner deployed 9-24-03. D&E performed repairs to material
deployed 9-22/9-23. D&E placed sandbags as ballast on the liner edges prior to leaving the site. D&E
tracked the failing destructive sample to 240' off of the west end of seam. D&E started welding a cap strip
on seam 108/222 where Destructive sample 113 failed.
Vector Engineering, Inc. CQA attended the weekly construction meting. CQA observed placement and
grading on the LCRS drainage aggregate imported today. CQA observed and logged subgrade acceptance,
panel deployment, seaming, airtests, repairs and vacuum tests performed on the liner materials. CQA
observed the drainage aggregate was clean. CQA marked destructive samples for conformance testing. CQA
tested destructive sample 113B with results meeting the required specifications for this project. D&E will
cap strip the entire seam after DS#113B to the west end. No seam was welded prior to 108/222 by seamer
and machine that day. DS#113B stands for welded before the destructive sample if 113A was tested it would
be after the weld. CQA pulled a destructive sample on the following seam welded by the same machine and
welder with passing results. CQA performed 3 washes on the drainage aggregate.
Vector discussed with Wood concrete for the leachate containment pad should start on Monday. CQA would like some areas of subgrade
around the sump rolled to smooth the subgrade was disturbed due to traffic.
File Name: Foothill Landfill Prepared By: Frank Dell -Era
Reviewed Bv:
