Vector also observed that the vacuum box and spark testing
was conducted according to the specifications. The air pressure test log for the wedge
welded seams is presented within the seaming log in Appendix J.
For extrusion welds and repairs, the seam number, date, technician, test type, repairs,
location, and passing test results were logged by Vector's CQA Monitor on a
geomembrane non-destructive testing log. This information is presented within
Appendix J.
® Destructive Seam Testing
General - In addition to nondestructive quality control, destructive
samples were obtained at random locations. The purpose of these tests was to
evaluate seam strength and integrity. The testing method was in accordance with
ASTM D6392.
Location and Frequency - Vector's CQA Monitor selected the destructive
sample locations at a frequency of approximately one sample per 500 linear feet
of seam. 171 samples were collected and tested from approximately 84,500
linear feet of seam, resulting in a test frequency of 1 test per 494 linear feet.
Additional destructive samples were obtained if there were any failures or if there
was an indication of overheating, contamination, or other adverse conditions.
Sampling Procedure - D & E cut the samples as directed by Vector's
CQA Monitor. Vector's CQA Monitor observed the cutting and assigned sample
numbering, reviewed all the information (sample number, seam number,
seaming apparatus, operator identification, location, date, and time welded).
Vector's CQA Monitor recorded the samples collected and sample location on
the panel layout drawing.
All holes in the geomembrane resulting from destructive seam sampling were
covered by D & E immediately after sampling. The repair was completed by
placing a patch of the same material and welding it using a normal extrusion
Vector Engineering, Inc. - 143E Spring Hill Drive • Grass Valley, CA 95945 • (530) 272-2448
31
