MONITORING RESULTS
Groundwater
Well MW-2R was not available for sampling during the first semester monitoring period. Future
' monitoring will include analysis of samples from MW 2R, and will not include monitoring of
water from abandoned well MW-2.
' Monitoring and Field Parameters
A comparison of the monitoring parameters to concentration limits show that there were several
' slight exceedances this period(Table 1). However, most of these exceedances do not appear to
be indications of a release from the landfill.
' The concentration of Nitrate in MW-2 exceeded its respective limit by less than one part per
million, and was only 0.3 ppm higher than the concentration in MW-1. Therefore,we do not
consider this a serious concern at this time.
LThe concentration of Chloride in LW-1 exceeded its concentration limit by 0.4 ppm, and is
therefore not a serious concern at this time. The County will monitor concentrations of Chloride
closely to ensure groundwater quality is protected.
VOCs
Acetone was reported in groundwater collected from MW-1. However,Acetone was also
reported in both the field and trip blanks and was therefore considered a false positive detection.
This well was not resampled.
No other VOCs were detected in any monitoring wells.
Surface Water
' There was no water present during the first semester monitoring event.
GROUNDWATER FLOW DIRECTION
' Groundwater levels were measured in monitoring wells MW-1,MW-2, and MW-3 during the
first and second quarters of the calendar year. Groundwater was determined to flow towards the
southwest (Figure 3). The groundwater gradient is 0.0015 foot per foot, calculated from the
' contours drawn.
STANDARD OBSERVATIONS
Foothill Sanitary Landfill 8 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
1s`Semester 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin-July 29,2003
