INTRODUCTION <br /> San Joaquin County is submitting this First Semester 2003 monitoring report for the Foothill <br /> Sanitary Landfill (FSL) in compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) Order <br /> No. R5-2003-0020. WDRs were issued by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, <br /> Central Valley Region, on January 31, 2003. The FSL is a Class III landfill which accepts only <br /> Class III municipal solid waste. <br /> The FSL is located in eastern San Joaquin County on Waverly Road, four miles east of Linden, CA <br /> ' (Figure 1). Waste disposal quantities for this semester are as follows (Figure 2): <br /> REFUSE DISPOSAL <br /> MONTH (TONS) <br /> January 2003 23,558 <br /> February 2003 21,285 <br /> March 2003 24,572 <br /> April 2003 25,371 <br /> May 2003 25,370 <br /> June 2003 26,148 <br /> MONITORING <br /> Water quality is monitored in accordance with WDR Order No.R5-2003-0020. <br /> Groundwater <br /> ' The groundwater well network now consists of upgradient well MW-1 and downgradient wells <br /> MW-2R, and MW-3 (Figure 3). All monitoring wells are equipped with dedicated purge and <br /> sampling pumps. Groundwater well MW-2R replaced well MW-2,which was abandoned in June <br /> 2003. <br /> Groundwater samples are analyzed semiannually for the following monitoring and field parameters <br /> as specified in the WDRs: <br /> • Temperature Chloride <br /> • Electrical Conductivity Sulfate <br /> • pH Nitrate-Nitrogen <br /> ' 0 Turbidity Calcium <br /> • Total Dissolved Solids Magnesium <br /> • Potassium Sodium <br /> • Carbonate Alkalinity Bicarbonate Alkalinity <br /> • Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) <br /> Foothill Sanitary Landfill Department of Public Works/Solid Waste <br /> 1"Semester 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin-July 29,2003 <br />
