r: <br />The program described in the plan includes the following: <br />• Public notification process <br />• Annual training of all landfill employees <br />• Procedures used to discover hazardous waste <br />• Handling and storage of hazardous waste items <br />• Description of hazardous waste storage facilities and equipment <br />• Records and reporting requirements <br />• Procedures for recovering costs associated with illegal disposal of hazardous waste <br />• Other procedures as may be needed, as approved by the LEA <br />Special handing procedures are also employed by the landfill for specific types of waste as <br />described below (also provided in Section 7.4.2): <br />• Cathode ray tubes (CRTs) are removed from televisions and computer monitors and <br />stored onsite prior to shipping to an offsite for reuse/disposal. The housing and <br />associated wiring is landfilled. <br />• Tires are segregated from the waste stream and stored onsite prior to shipping to an <br />offsite vendor for reuse/disposal. <br />• White goods are diverted from the waste stream and stored onsite. The landfill operator <br />contracts with a vendor who comes onsite to remove and capture Freon gas from <br />refrigerators and air conditioners.
