The Load Checking Program is described in the
Hazardous Waste Exclusion Program, dated January 1992 (Appendix K).
The load checking program assigns a refuse worker to check loads and visually monitor the
unloading area. This load checker examines the contents of the vehicles as they are unloading,
checking for unacceptable wastes. This person also records on a vehicle log, the vehicle number
of each vehicle and the name of the hauler, if the customer is a commercial hauler.
The discharge area is approximately 100 feet by 100 feet. Loads containing hazardous waste are
rejected. If the presence of hazardous waste is not discovered until after the load is dropped, the
procedures in the Hazardous Waste Exclusion Program are followed. A locker to store
household hazardous wastes is provided on the eastern wall of the Maintenance Building
(Plate 2.2).
Foothill Sanitary Landfill
JTD
Page 52 of 62 Public Works/Solid Waste
County of San Joaquin —Revised 11/14/05
