® Refuse Worker t <br /> Refuse Workers I are expected to perform the routine, labor intensive tasks associated <br /> with the Program. Employees in this position, once trained and approved, may operate <br /> light equipment and vehicles assigned to the Program. In this assignment, the employee <br /> is responsible for the proper use of tools and must protect them against theft, damage, or <br /> loss. Refuse Workers 1 will be working with power (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic or gas <br /> operated)hand tools. <br /> This employee is expected to read and understand the Program guides. Each day, this <br /> employee is expected to perform the following daily assignments in the order listed: <br /> 1. Report to the Material Recovery Facility Supervisor. <br /> 2. Service refrigerant containing items by removing refrigerants and regulated <br /> materials.Afterwards, mark the refrigerant containing items to indicate the unit is <br /> ready for crushing and loading. <br /> 3. Clean up the area used for servicing, including any oil contaminated soils. <br /> 4. Place all contaminated soil and regulated material in designated, labeled drums. <br /> 5. Document the number of units serviced and the amount of materials removed on <br /> the appliance service form (Located in the"Forms"section of this document). <br /> 6. Package all regulated material for transportation and load in truck. <br /> 7. Once a week, transport regulated material to America Refrigeration Supplies <br /> (ARS) located at 740 East Hazelton Avenue, Stockton California, 95205; <br /> 8. Prepare all equipment for next day's assignments. <br /> 9. Other tasks,as assigned. <br /> Designated Refuse Worker t(Freon Service Worker) <br /> The Designated Refuse Worker 1,working as a"Freon Service Worker': <br /> Freon Service Workers may, when necessary, travel to different job locations, and work <br /> under limited supervision, in a timely manner. In this assignment, the employee is <br /> responsible for a large amount of tools and must protect them against theft, damage, or <br /> loss. In this position, the employee will be working with power (electric, pneumatic, <br /> hydraulic, and gas) operated equipment and hand tools. Employees in this position are <br /> expected to read and understand the Appliance Recycling Guide, published by the <br /> California Integrated Waste Management Board (located in Appendix 1), and the Self <br /> Training Manual for Removing Mercury Switches from Major Appliances, published by <br /> the Department of Toxic Substances Control (located in Appendix J), and adhere to the <br /> rules regarding white goods and Freon containing appliances. Employees are expected <br /> to safely remove Freon and other regulated materials from refrigerant containing <br /> appliances and store them for proper recycling and disposal. Each employee is expected <br /> to read and understand the operations manuals for equipment assigned to the position. <br /> This employee is expected to read and understand the Program guides.
