SECTION 5
(03/08)
5-1.07 CONTRACT CHANGE ORDERS.--Certain Contract Change
Orders may be approved by the Director of Public Works, all others shall be approved
by the Board of Supervisors.
5-1.08 ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRACT.--Acceptance of contract as
complete shall require the approval of the Board of Supervisors.
5-1.09 EXTRA WORK.--Section 4-1.03D, "Extra Work," of the Standard
Specifications is amended by adding the following between the second and third
paragraphs:,
If, in the opinion of the Engineer, such work cannot reasonably be
performed concurrently with other items of work, and if a controlling item
of work is delayed thereby, an adjustment of contract time will be made.
5-1.10 AIR POLLUTION CONTROL.--Air pollution control shall conform to
the provisions in Section 7-1.01 F, "Air Pollution Control," of the Standard Specifications
and these special provisions.
Material to be disposed of shall not be burned unless the Contractor has
obtained a permit to burn combustible material resulting from clearing and grubbing
operations from an air pollution control officer of the local or regional authority. A copy
of the permit shall be filed with the Engineer before beginning any burning. All such
burning shall be conducted in strict conformance with the provisions stipulated in said
permit and at such times and in such manner as to prevent the fire from spreading to
areas adjoining the right of way.
In case the burning precedes construction operations, the piles may be placed in
the center of the right of way; otherwise the piles shall be placed in the most convenient
location at the side of the right of way and beyond slope lines where they may be
burned without damage to the surrounding forest cover or adjacent property.
f5-2
(SPEMCO-MCO-5-2)
