The chromatogram indicated the presence of non -target background components. The matrix interference prevented adequate resolution of the target compound at the reporting limit. The results are flagged to indicate the matrix interference. The MDL is elevated for Dalapon in sample Method Blank KWG0708426-3. The chromatogram indicated the presence of non -target background components, which were apparently introduced as laboratory artifacts. The contamination prevented adequate resolution of the target compounds at the MDL. Note the level of background was relatively low compared to the MDL, so the affect on the results was minimal. The results are flagged to indicate the problem. No other anomalies associated with the analysis of these samples were observed. Semivolatile Organic Compounds by EPA Method 82700 Initial Calibration (ICAL) Exceptions: The primary evaluation criterion was exceeded for the following analytes inICAL ID CAL6512: Bis(2- chloroisopropyl) Ether, 4-Methylphenol, Naphthalene, 2-Nitroaniline, 2,6-Dinitrotoluene, 2,4-Dinitrotoluene, 4- Nitroaniline. In accordance with CAS standard operating procedures, the alternative evaluation specified in the EPA method was performed using the mean Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) of all analytes in the calibration. The result of the mean RSD calculation was 10,7%. The calibration meets the alternative evaluation criteria. Note that CAS/Kelso policy does not allow the use of averaging if any analyte in the ICAL exceeds 30% RSD. Second Source Exceptions: The upper control criterion was exceeded for Benzidine in Initial Calibration Verification (iCV) MS08/0808FO13.D. The field samples analyzed in this sequence did not contain the analyte in question. Since the apparent problem equates to a potential high bias, the data quality is not affected. No further corrective action was required. Lab Control Sample Exceptions: The advisory criterion was exceeded for the following analytes in Laboratory Control Sample (LCS) KWG0708458: 7,12-Dimethylbenz(a)anthracene, 7,12-Demethylbenz(a)anthracene and Famphur. As per the CAS/Kelso Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this method, these compounds are not included in the subset of analytes used to control the analysis. The recovery information reported for these analytes is for advisory purposes only (i.e. to provide additional detail related to the performance of each individual compound). No further corrective action was required.
