0 1 BACKGROUND <br />Foothill Sanitary Landfill (FSL) is a single Class III Waste Management Unit <br />located in eastern San Joaquin County at 6484 N. Waverly Road, four miles east <br />of Linden, CA. FSL's property size is approximately 800 acres. The permitted <br />refuse fill area of FSL is approximately 674 acres with a 200 ft. offset from the <br />property boundary. Waste is filled in modules which are constructed when <br />needed. Currently there is one filled unlined module (Module "I") and one lined <br />Module (Module 1) currently being filled. Land uses within 1,000 feet of the <br />facility are agricultural. <br />FSL operates under Solid Waste Facilities Permit # 39 -AA -0004, which is issued <br />by the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery, and is <br />administered by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br />(EHD) as the Local Enforcement Agency. FSL accepts commercial and <br />® household waste, construction/ demolition waste and agricultural waste. <br />The facility is prohibited from accepting hazardous waste or liquids under its <br />current permit. Wastes not accepted at FSL are: <br />• Chemicals or chemical sludge which are toxic, corrosive, an irritant, <br />or a strong sensitizer <br />• Drugs <br />• Infectious wastes <br />• Radioactive wastes <br />• Flammables or explosives <br />• Free liquids or liquid residues in containers larger than five gallons <br />• Fuel wastes <br />Foothill Sanitary Landfill San Joaquin County <br />HWEP July 2010 1 Public Works Department <br />Solid Waste Division <br />
