11. PROBIHITED WASTE DETECTION TRAINING <br />Site personnel are continuously trained how to property detect prohibited <br />waste. Training for site personnel includes briefings on the load checking <br />program, and training courses given by qualified personnel. Training <br />courses include information on basic personal safety, prohibited waste <br />identification, cleanup of hazardous waste, and placarding. Site supervisors <br />on a regular basis attend an annual eight (8) hours HAZWOP refresher <br />course. <br />Following are the scenarios and response procedure upon detection of <br />prohibited waste. <br />DURING UNLOADING: <br />Upon detecting prohibited waste being unloaded from a vehicle by a <br />customer, the load checker instructs the customer that such waste is not <br />acceptable. The customer is then asked to remove the prohibited waste <br />from the site and dispose it at a licensed hazardous facility. <br />The customer is informed if the prohibited material is accepted at another <br />County facility such as the North County Recycling Center or the Household <br />Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW). Otherwise, the customer is advised to <br />contact EHD at (209) 468-3420 for further information for disposal.
