{ 4.3 SPILL PREVENTION AND RESPONSE
Since only non hazardous materials are accepted, chances of pollution is
ii
minimal if spills do occur_ If any spills occur, landfill personnel are to
r take the following actions to supplement the procedure to be used in the site
Hazardous Materials Management Plan (see Appendix B):
6
1) Immediately close off the spill area, the spill is bermed to
prevent contact with any storm drain trenches nearby.
2) Contact the Responsible Authorities -- County Office of Emergency
Services Division if the spill is greater than five (5) gallons,
and might be material which would pollute the storm drain system.
Notify the site superintendent for further assistance for any
spill sizes.
3) After the spill clean up is completed, record all spills and their
corrective actions in the site special occurrences log.
4.4 STORM DRAIN SYSTEM
The existing storm drain system is described in Section 2.1 of this SWPPP. For
SWPPP purposes, the facility is divided into two distinct activities and storm
drainage plans; the active landfill area (Figure B) and the balance of the
800 -acre site.
As illustrated in Figure B and Section 2.1 of this report, runoff for the
landfill area is directed to a retention pond to the east which is designed to
hold 100% of the storm water runoff for the 100 -year storm. The county's Solid
waste Division has indicated that the pond now exceeds the 100 -year design
capacity.
WA
