Job Safety Analysis <br /> -M <br /> Drilling Improper Work Procedures • Check behind rig when lowering mast spotter must be <br /> present when doing so. <br /> • When changing cable keep hands out of pinch points, <br /> have direct eye contact with operator and use spotter <br /> when spooling cable. <br /> • When working around drill bore bucket should be <br /> placed in bore or safety grate placed over bore. <br /> • Unauthorized personnel must be kept clear of drilling <br /> rig. <br /> • Area of drilling operation must be cordoned <br /> off/barricaded <br /> • When hazardous conditions(including weather)are <br /> deemed present,operation must be shut down. <br /> • Set rig on stable,level ground <br /> > Use safety cover over bore cover when installing pipe <br /> and using pipe clamps. <br /> • Do not allow drillers to climb onto mast while it is <br /> erected <br /> • Use hand signals when taking bucket on or off. <br /> • Work areas,platforms,and walkways should be kept <br /> free of materials,debris,and obstructions such as ice, <br /> grease or oil that could cause a surface to become slick <br /> or otherwise hazardous. <br /> • Shut down drill rig to make repairs or adjustments to <br /> drill rig or to lubricate fittings. <br /> • Before raising the mast,check for overhead <br /> obstructions <br /> Drilling Handling Heavy Objects • Observe proper lifting techniques <br /> • Obey sensible lifting limits (60 lb.maximum per <br /> person manual lifting) <br /> • Use mechanical lifting equipment(hand carts,trucks) <br /> to move large,awkward loads <br />
