After visual inspection, make sure that there is ASSURED CLEAR DISTANCE 50 FEET
MINIMUM around the rig before unloading. Since the drill rig will come off an unleveled
surface the drill rig will have a greater chance of striking an object with the mast.
a UJ 50
C) Feet R r 0
CLEARI -
4 Co Co—
Co
o 50 Feet ASSURED
Ln U CLEARDISTANCE
Become familiar with the drill rig. The travel of all the rigs is the same. If you are on a different
rig than you are accustomed to then you may want to contact the previous rig operator. The
drilling controls are different on every rig.
Before extending the tracks, the weight of the rig should be transferred off the extending track.
MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS ASSURED CLEAR DISTANCE AROUND THE RIG 50
FEET MINIMUM. Extending the tracks can be done two ways. The first way is to elevate the
mast into the drilling position, turn to the side over the track then lower the mast to the ground.
When the mast contacts the ground, continue to go down with the mast, this will raise the track.
When this is done the track can be extended. Raise the mast to lower the track back on the
ground and turn to the other side and repeat the process on the second track. The second way is
to slide the kelly bars about halfway out through the rotary head. Turn to the side, this will lift
the track behind you and extend the track. Repeat the process on the other side.
The rig should be greased after the tracks are extended. Keep in mind while greasing the rig,
check for hydraulic leaks and tighten them. If leaking continues, replace the o-rings. The grease
points are the main and auxiliary winches, all the cylinders associated with the mast, the pivot
points on the mast, parallel bars, and lifting arm. If there are grease zerks on the crown shives
grease those as well. The turret should be greased in increments until greased completely.
With the rig on the ground the kelly bars should be placed on the mast as if it was in the drilling
position. The AF-100's and SR 30 kelly bars come shipped on the rig. Take time to make all
adjustments to rig to put it in the drilling ready mode. If you have questions ask it is easier and
cheaper to ask than to assume.
