Before starting the
machine, it is essential to analyze and assess all the geomorphologic conditions of the ground
(load-bearing capacity, slipping hazard, gradient, any obstructions, etc.). Check for the presence
of any overhead power lines, and underground piping (gas headers, etc..) and underground utility
channels (See HS-308 for safety procedures).
Prior to drilling ensure you are not on ground that is steeper than 5
degrees. Build benches or have haul roads built before work
activities begin. In addition, the maximum forward angle of the
mast for the AF100 is 8 degrees, the maximum lateral angle of the
mast is 5 degrees, and the maximum backward angle of the mast is
15 degrees. While traveling to the drilling location mast should be
tilted back 60 degrees. No travel on slopes that are greater than 2 to
1, if travel is required haul roads will have to be built and health and
safety manager and project manager will have to be contacted.
A full bucket is better is not the case unless drilling in landfill water.
A full bucket will take the driller longer to empty; twice as much
material can be removed by not packing the bucket and does not
damage the rig as much. When the driller is set up to begin drilling
the mast should be leaning to the left 2 bars or 10 degrees on the
leveler graph to compensate for the rotary torque to the left in the
beginning. The mast can be straightened once the top of the bucket LXV]
is even with the ground.
New Damaged Felty Bar#t
Undammaged much down pressur
You will need to double-check the mast indicator every fourth or Kelly Bar Grey shows where
fifth bucket. To do this level the mast with a four foot level then the new pattern way
check the in cab indicator. If the indicator is not level, then an
adjustment will have to be made in the indicator box. The box is located where the parallel beam
meets the mast. It is a small box mounted onto a large L bracket with three screws connecting
the box to the L bracket. These three screws are loosened and then you adjust the screws
accordingly while someone is in the cab watching the indicator. When the indicator reads level
