The first five landfills listed above are Class III landfills
which accept municipal household and commercial waste. The one
exception is the Harney Lane SL which is currently in closure
and accepted no waste during 1992 . The French Camp Class III
SL receives only tree trimmings and yard clippings from the
City of Stockton. Forward, Inc. is a Class II and Class III
landfill/treatment/recycling facility. It accepts certain
designated wastes such as asbestos, contaminated soil, ash,
treated waste wood, and sewage and water treatment sludge, in
addition to commercial/industrial and construction/demolition
wastes. Forward, Inc. receives special wastes from Cities
within San Joaquin County and from jurisdictions outside of
the County.
The following graph illustrates waste quantities received at
landfills in San Joaquin county over the past four years:
Total Waste Delivered to Landfills
1989 - 1992
Thousands of Tons
700
600 .................. ....................
500 .... ....... ....... .......
400 ... .... .... ....
300 .... ....
100
001 FA-
1989 1990 1991 1992
Special Waste Municipal Waste
®Total waste Delivered
All loads arriving at County disposal sites are required to be
properly tarped as part of the County's Vehicle Tarping
Program.. users who arrive with uncovered loads in pickup
trucks and utility trailers have the option of paying a double
disposal fee or purchasing a tarp.
