AND ALLIED WASTE INDUSTRIES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
capable of dependably removing VOCs to concentrations which are non-detectable using
EPA Method 600 series analyses. The system is designed to discharge up to 550 gpm
(790,000 gpd). The beneficial uses of the Littlejohns Creek, the San Joaquin River and Delta
downstream of the discharge are municipal, industrial, and agricultural supply; water contact
and noncontact recreation; aesthetic enjoyment; navigation; and preservation and
enhancement of fish, wildlife and other aquatic resources.
6. The beneficial uses of groundwater are municipal, industrial, and agricultural supply.
Waste Description
7. Polluted groundwater, prior to treatment contains the following VOC contaminants: 1,1-
Dichloroethane, cis-1,2-Dichloroethene, Dichloro-difluoromethane, Tetrachlorothene,
andTrichloroethene.
8. The waste streams from the treatment plant will be treated by removal of VOCs by air
stripping. This treatment is successful in reducing the VOC concentration to non-detectable
levels. The volume of treated water generated is approximately 580,000 gallons per day.
Waste Classification
9. Treated groundwater discharged by the treatment plant does not contain detectable levels of
VOCs. Inorganic constituent concentrations in treated groundwater are characterized as
follows:
Waste Water Discharge*
(mg/1)
Barium 0.314
Calcium 92.850
Magnesium 45.750
Manganese 0.128
Potassium 8.045
Sodium 49.5
Vanadium 0.022
