(Sukut superintendent)in the early morning to discuss the anchor
trench details around the lechate pond and yesterday's survey. The distance of the north lechate anchor
trench from the crest of slope appears that it will contact an existing gas well. Apparently, the well or the
anchor trench need to be moved. Also, the east lechate pond anchor trench appears to cut off any access
between the FU-03 cell and the lechate pond because of the distance from the toe of slope to the anchor
trench. General earthworks operations continued with the two(2)blades beginning to finish cut the clay in
the central floor area previously placed. The two(2) scrapers hauled stockpiled material to the east and west
cell floor areas where the sheepsfoot compactor applied compactive effort and the water truck moisture
conditioned. The D5 dozer ripped the stockpile in front of the scrapers.
Review of the conformance results, the roll certifications of the Bentofix GCL and the geotextile (16oz)
material continued as time permitted. On site lab testing of the clay material continued with another
completion of one(1)more Atterberg limits test. Calculations and test plotting will be performed tomorrow
after overnight oven drying.
Ten(10)nuclear moisture density tests were performed at random locations and elevations throughout the
day. All tests passed the 90%compaction specification and also passed in moisture content. The on site
foreman for Sukut was verbally informed of the test results.
In the mid-aftemoon, Lochlin C. (Allied)called and I informed him of the concerns of the lechate pond
anchor trench. He stated that I should contact the design engineers on Monday(10-27-03)to discuss
possible options.
pared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
C-17
