The plan indicates that -the following gas probe (GP) distances are marginal:
• GP I and GP 25
• GP 3 and GP 4
• GP I6 and GP 17
• GP 24 and GP 25
The EHD and your staff conducted a survey to measure the actual distances between the gas
probe in question. The results are as follows:
• The distance between GP I and GP 25 is 1000 feet
• The distance between GP 3 and GP 4 is 998.5 feet
• The distance between GP 16 and GP 17 is 1008 feet
• The distance between GP 24 and GP 25 is 1010 feet
In the revised plan dated December 8, 2008,•you agreed to install a new gas probe between GP 1
and GP 25. The distance between those wells meet state minimum standards. The structure across
the street from the entrance is still a concern, but because current land filling activity is over 1000
feet away and the gas probes nearest the structure (GP 1, GP 2, GP 25 or GP 24) have not
contained a measureable amount of methane during quarterly monitoring events, the EHD will
allow the proposed probe location (GP 26) to be moved to a location between GP 24 and GP 25
with the following condition. When a landfill cell is constructed within 1000 feet of the structure,
the facility must install an additional gas probe. The new gas probe must be installed between
GP25 and GP 1. This condition will be added to the new permit for the proposed expansion for
the facility.
