"Facility" in San Joaquin County. It is my understanding that the Facility is not
currently experiencing any smoldering event.
In order to begin the evaluation and determine the cause and preventative measures for the
pervious smoldering events, some additional information is required. Please submit the following
information to the CIWMB by March 16, 2009:
1. A brief discussion on the number of smoldering events for the past two years, including
locations, actions taken, adjustments to the gas collection system, and any damage to the
engineering control systems;
2. The Facility's Fire Prevention Plan previously submitted to SJCEHD in December 2008;
3. A copy of the Special Occurrence Log for each smoldering event;
4. A site map (large size 24"x 36) with an overlay of the gas collection system. The map
should also indicate the location of each smoldering event;
5. A copy of the gas collection data (excel format) for the Facility that spans from January
1, 2007 to January 31, 2009. The data should include gas collection data from individual
wells, temperatures, percent methane, percent carbon dioxide, percent oxygen nitrogen
and or balance gases.
6. A copy of the Facility's gas extraction well exceedence logs per New Source
Performance Standards for temperatures, oxygen, and nitrogen for the period of January
1, 2007 to January 31, 2009.
Once these materials are received and evaluated, I will contact your facility to schedule a site visit.
Thank you for your cooperation to date.
ORIGINAL PRINTED ON 100 % POSTCONSUMER CONTENT, PROCESSED CHLORINE FREE PAPER
