Stage 1A Partial Final Closure February 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.06
® 3-inch sieve. The liquid limit and plasticity index for the compacted earthfill
material ranged from 22 to 34 and 3 to 14, respectively. A summary of the test
results is included in Table 2. Detailed results of the compacted earthfill
material testing are included in Appendix C.
Modified Proctor (ASTM D-1557): Vector's CQA Monitor performed thirty six
(36) moisture-density relationships (ASTM D-1557), which corresponds to a
frequency of 1 per 5,000 cy. A summary of test results is shown in Table 2.
Results of the tests are included in Appendix C.
Moisture and Density Testing: Vector's CQA Monitor recorded 720 in-place
unit weight (ASTM D-2922) and in-place moisture content (ASTM D-3017) tests
during the compaction of the compacted earthfill soil materials. The total
number of passing tests recorded corresponds to a frequency of 1 per 250 cy,
® which satisfies the minimum required frequency of 1 per 500 cy. Areas that
failed to meet the acceptable compaction were reworked and/or replaced and
retested until a passing result was achieved. Summaries of the field
moisture/density testing are tabulated in Appendix C.
Density Verification: To verify the in situ density by the nuclear gauge, the
wet density values obtained by the nuclear gauge were compared to the wet
density determined from the sand cone tests. Seventy two (72) sandcone tests
were conducted at a frequency on 1 per 2,500 cy, which meets the specified
frequency of 1 per 2,500 cy. Results of the density testing conducted by the
sand cone method are included in Appendix C.
Hydraulic Conductivity: Eighteen (18) in situ soil samples were collected during
placement and compaction of the compacted earthfill and tested for permeability
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley, CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-10-
