FOURTH QUARTER 2006 GROUNDWATER TREATMENT FACILITY MONITORING REPORT
FORWARD LANDFILL WDR ORDER NO.R5-2003-0080
conveyance pipe adjacent to the wet area in the access road. The wet area was marked with
a stake and flagging tape. The CV Water Board was informed of the leak via e-mail on
December 20,2006 (Atkinson,2006).
EW-1 and the GTF continued to operate until the end of fourth quarter 2006. Repairs to the
groundwater conveyance pipeline are scheduled for the week of January 8,2007. Following
the repairs,EW-2 will be restarted and the repaired pipe will be thoroughly examined for
leaks. After the pipeline is successfully repaired,EW-2 and the GTF will be returned to
normal operation during first quarter 2007.
The GTF hour meter failed during fourth quarter 2006 and will be repaired or replaced
during first quarter 2007.
3.0 Influent and Effluent Monitoring
Under WDR Order No. R5-2003-0080, effluent samples are analyzed as follows:
• Monthly for pH,specific conductivity, and VOCs
• Quarterly for total dissolved solids
• Annually for dissolved inorganics
All parameters were analyzed during fourth quarter 2006. Figure 1 shows the effluent
monitoring location. Table 2 presents the results of the effluent monitoring performed
during fourth quarter 2006. Appendix A contains the effluent monitoring field sampling
logs and laboratory results for fourth quarter 2006.
The current WDRs stipulate that the concentration limit for VOCs in the effluent is
nondetect. No VOCs were detected in the GTF effluent samples collected during fourth
quarter 2006.
Under WDR Order No.R5-2003-0080,influent sampling for pH,specific conductivity,
turbidity, and VOCs are performed semiannually. Influent samples are collected from a
sample port in the header pipe adjacent to the air stripper.Semiannual influent monitoring
was conducted on November 16,2006. Table 3 presents the results of the influent monitor-
ing performed during fourth quarter 2006. Appendix A contains the influent monitoring
field sampling logs and laboratory results for fourth quarter 2006.
As required by the current WDRs,historical influent and effluent analytical results (detected
analytes only) are tabulated on a compact disc in Appendix B. Appendix B also contains
historical influent and effluent pH and conductivity data. The Appendix B data cover the
period from August 1994 to December 2006. The results are drawn from a CH2M HILL
database and historical reports.
During first quarter 2007, effluent samples will be collected monthly and analyzed for pH,
specific conductivity, and VOCs.One quarterly effluent sample will be analyzed for total
dissolved solids. Influent samples will again be collected during second quarter 2007.
RDD/070170002(NLH3358.DOC) 3
