Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08 September 2009 <br /> Forward Landfill Project No.021605.09 <br /> 2.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> 2.1 Project Components of the Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08 <br /> The upper northern portion of FU-08 encompasses approximately 15.6 acres of top <br /> deck area. WMU FU-08 ties into the northern side of the existing WMU FU-08 <br /> lower floor portion and to the eastern portion of FU-06. Components of WMU <br /> FU-08 are the same as constructed for WMU FU-06. The composite liner <br /> components from both WMU FU-06 and FU-08 were joined together to provide a <br /> continuous composite liner system. The composite liner system installed within the <br /> Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08 area consists of the following components <br /> (from top to bottom): <br /> • 1-ft-thick operations layer; <br /> • 7-oz/sy geotextile filter; <br /> • 6-inch-thick granular drainagematerial; and <br /> • 7-oz/sy geotextile cushion. <br /> A temporary berm was constructed around the perimeter of the northern portion of <br /> WMU FU-08, which was overlain by a HDPE geomembrane. <br /> In addition, a small section (less than 1 acre) between the upper northern portion of <br /> FU-08 and the lower portion of FU-08 constructed last year was lined, consisting of <br /> the following components (from top to bottom): <br /> • 1-ft-thick operations layer; <br /> • 7-oz/sy geotextile filter; <br /> • 6-inch-thick granular drainagematerial; <br /> • 12-oz/sy geotextile cushion; and <br /> • Geogrid. <br /> 2.2 Project Construction Summary <br /> The construction of the northern portion of WMU FU-08 was conducted from early <br /> Vector Engineering, Inc.- 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945-(530)272-2448 <br /> -3- <br />
