Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08 September 2009
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.09
2.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
2.1 Project Components of the Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08
The upper northern portion of FU-08 encompasses approximately 15.6 acres of top
deck area. WMU FU-08 ties into the northern side of the existing WMU FU-08
lower floor portion and to the eastern portion of FU-06. Components of WMU
FU-08 are the same as constructed for WMU FU-06. The composite liner
components from both WMU FU-06 and FU-08 were joined together to provide a
continuous composite liner system. The composite liner system installed within the
Upper Northern Portion of WMU FU-08 area consists of the following components
(from top to bottom):
• 1-ft-thick operations layer;
• 7-oz/sy geotextile filter;
• 6-inch-thick granular drainagematerial; and
• 7-oz/sy geotextile cushion.
A temporary berm was constructed around the perimeter of the northern portion of
WMU FU-08, which was overlain by a HDPE geomembrane.
In addition, a small section (less than 1 acre) between the upper northern portion of
FU-08 and the lower portion of FU-08 constructed last year was lined, consisting of
the following components (from top to bottom):
• 1-ft-thick operations layer;
• 7-oz/sy geotextile filter;
• 6-inch-thick granular drainagematerial;
• 12-oz/sy geotextile cushion; and
• Geogrid.
2.2 Project Construction Summary
The construction of the northern portion of WMU FU-08 was conducted from early
Vector Engineering, Inc.- 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945-(530)272-2448
-3-
