Forward Landfill
Gas Probe Monitoring Report
on conditions at each location with the screened section being installed from this point
to the bottom of the probe.
A granular filter pack consisting of No. 3 Monterey type sand was placed in the annular
space between the screen and the borehole wall. Filter pack was placed in each boring to
approximately 1 foot below the bottom of the screen and 0.5 foot above the top of the
screen. A low permeability seal, consisting of a minimum of 5 feet of Enviro-Plug medium
bentonite chips, was placed immediately above the filter pack. Construction details are
shown on the Boring Logs and presented on Table 1.
Prior to start of drilling operations, the ground surface at each proposed probe location
was surveyed for elevation and location (Table 1). Probe locations were not changed
from those proposed.
SURFACE COMPLETIONS
After the monitoring probes were installed, BAS returned to the Forward Landfill on
October 2, 2009 to complete the surface monuments. Surface completions included a
3 foot raised steel monument placed over the probe casing and embedded into a
concrete apron. The monument lid was secured with a padlock. Bollards were placed
around the pad protecting the monument from vehicular traffic.
CONCLUSION
Two 2 new perimeter landfill as monitoring robes were installed at the Forward
( ) p g gp
Landfill site to bring the existing perimeter probe network into compliance with current
Title 27 requirements. Figures, tables and boring logs included as attachments to this
report demonstrate the compliance of the newly installed network.
4 BRYAN A.STIRRAT S ASSOCIATES
(J:\Republic Services\Forward\2009.0087 Probe CQA\Report\Probe Installation Report.docm:01/19/10)
