MEETING NOTES
Page 2
May 15, 2013
INTRODUCTION
• The parties introduced themselves. Guinn is the earthwork contractor. Comanco is the
geosynthetics contractor. GLA is the CQA firm and Lewis Engineering is the design
engineer.
• GLA's lead CQA inspector will be Jose.Armenta, C.E.T.
• Guinn's foreman will be Kevin.
• Lochlin will serve as the construction manager for Forward. Erin is the site manager
and Ruben is the operations manager.
• The geomembrane is proposed to be provided by AGRU, the geotextiles by SKAPS,
the GCL by GSE, and the Geogrid by Tensar.
* Sangeeta provided a project overview and explained that the cell is a standard Subtitle
D cell on the base and has subgrade fill/GCL/HDPE Gemembrane/Geocomposite on
the slope.
* There is a small area of subgrade fill on the east facing slope that may have a slight cut
and insufficient fill thickness. Sangeeta will provide information on the area of concern
and a pothole will be dug to verify the soil cover thickness and if the subgrade fill
grades need adjustment.
* The WMU FU -10 tanks collapsed. The specifications for the tank have been the same
since 1995, so the reason for the tank collapse in WNW FU -10 compared with
successful installations in prior Wmus is unknown. The tanks have not been ordered
yet and Ginter will contact Sangeeta to discuss appropriate tanks before ordering.
* The area identified as a "trash hump" during the prebid is actually soil used to
construct a prior access ramp and does not contain trash.
* Phasing of cell construction was discussed between Comanco and Guinn to minimise
the time that the clay liner would be exposed.
ADMINISTRATIVE/CONTRACTUAL SUBMITTALS
* Lochlin will manage the contract.
* Erin will be copied on all emails.
. 101 D
* Guinn submitted a schedule which has a start date of May 15 and projects substantial
completion by mid-August.
* Excavation is anticipated to take approximately 15 days.
* Clay will be stockpiled as part of excavation work. Clay placement is anticipated to i
begin June 13.
* Comanco will line the upper 4:1 slope first and then do the 2:1 slope.
* Liner installation has bee scheduled for 27 working days.
