2.
CI
61
Review of work progress since previous meeting: 0
- Guinn completed the removal of overburden and excavation and processing of
clay material from the location further to the east. Approximately 18,240 cy of clay
have been stockpiled.
- Guinn began placing the processed clay in the FU -13 floor area and in the LCRS
trench.
- Guinn removed the existing LCRS sump
- Guinn unloaded the geosynthetic materials as they were delivered to the site
including geocomposite, GCL, geomembrane, geogrid, and geotextile. Additional
loads of geomembrane are still expected.
- Guinn completed the subgrade preparation for the floor and 4:1 slope and is
100% ready for geosynthetics placement on the sideslopes.
Projected schedule:
- Guinn will continue to haul, moisture condition, and compact clay liner on the cell
floor.
- Guinn will continue to disk the clay to mix in the moisture and reduce clods.
Guinn will work with GLA to get as much moisture as possible into the clay to
ensure the lowest possible permeability.
- Guinn is set up to do the off loading of the remaining geomembrane.
- Comanco will place liner starting on July 1St. Comanco will fill sandbags on June
28th and Guinn will have the clay completed at the toe of the slope. Comanco will
provide an estimate of the time required to line the slopes and floor.
- Guinn revised their construction schedule to show clay being placed in two
phases.
Field observations, problems, conflicts, and changes:
- GLA stated that Guinn needs to keep the maximum amount of moisture in the
clay in order to obtain the required permeability values.
- GLA ran the first clay stockpile permeability evaluation test at 90% compaction
and 3% over optimum moisture. The results showed a failing permeability. GLA is
currently running a new test at 5% over optimum to see if that configuration of
moisture will provide passing results. GLA stressed the importance of getting as
much moisture as possible into the clay and Guinn agreed and stated that they
were working the disk on the stockpile and are coordinating with GLA to get the
best product available.
Issues which impede the construction schedule and corrective measures:
- GLA received samples of the geosynthetic materials and began running large
scale direct shear testing on the specified interfaces.
