Water Quality Monitoring Report
Forward Landfill
AMW-6 — bicarbonate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, strontium, and
TDS.
• AMW-12—nitrate
In a letter dated July 25, 2016, the RWQCB was notified of these CL exceedances and
retesting is scheduled for July 2016. Retesting will not be performed for well AMW-6
since this well is a CAP well, misidentified in the new WDR.
3.1.5 Corrective Action/Evaluation Program
Field and laboratory results for CAP and EMP wells for the second quarter 2016
monitoring period are summarized in Table 3-2. As shown in Table 3-2, 16 of 28
CAP/EMP wells reported one or more VOCs exceeding a Practical Quantitation Limit
(PQL), with CAP well AMW-1 having the greatest number of VOCs (14) including 10
measured above a PQL. An annual report discussing the CAP and EMP monitoring
results for the Austin Unit was prepared by Geologic Associates (GLA, 2016) and
reported under separate cover. Forward is also preparing an interim Corrective Actions
Measures report to address VOCs in groundwater in DMP and CAP wells, to be reported
under separate cover.
3.1.6 Cannery Waste Land Application Monitoring
Field and laboratory results for the four CWLAM wells for the second quarter 2016
monitoring period are summarized in Table 3-4 and were compared to Water Quality
Protection Standards (WQPS) calculated for CWLAM constituents (total nitrogen, arsenic,
iron, and manganese). As shown in Table 3-4, the WQPS was exceeded for iron in the
sample collected from well AMW-10 during the monitoring period. In a letter dated July
25, 2016, the RWQCB was notified of these CL exceedances and retesting is scheduled
for July 2016.
3.1.7 Domestic Well Monitoring
Two domestic wells (7898-A and 8106-A) were sampled on May 9, 2016. Table 3-5
summarizes the current analytical results for the domestic well samples collected. PCE
and TCE were measured above the PQL in both domestic well samples, and
dichlorodifluoromethane (DCDFM) was also measured above the PQL in the sample
collected from well 8106-A. In addition, trace concentrations of 1,1-dichloroethane and
cis-1,2-dichloroethene were measured in well 8106-A, and DCDFM was measured at a
trace concentrations in well 7898-A.
3.1.8 Vadose Zone Monitoring
The current vadose-zone monitoring network at the Austin Unit consists of seven
lysimeters. The lysimeter locations are shown on Figure 3-1. As shown on Table 2-6,
M:\2016.0007\FA 2Q16.docx 12
