0 <br />REPUBLIC <br />f�►� SERVICES <br />Mr. Brendan Kenny <br />Engineering Geologist <br />Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200 <br />Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 <br />July 14, 2017 <br />RE: Forward Landfill — Quarterly Progress Report <br />Dear Mr. Kenny: <br />In accordance with Task 6.a of the December 8, 2008 Cleanup and Abatement Oder (CAO) R5-2008- <br />0714 issued by the California Regional Water Quality Board — Central Valley Region (RWQCB), Forward <br />Incorporated is pleased to submit this Quarterly Progress Report for the Forward Landfill. <br />During the second quarter 2017 monitoring period, a violation of Facility Specification 6.4 of Order R5- <br />2003-0080 occurred. Treated effluent discharged into the infiltration pond contained trace concentrations <br />of up to three volatile organic compounds in the monthly effluent samples. In addition, cis -1,2- <br />• dichloroethene and tetrachloroethene were measured above the practical quantitation limit during the <br />June sampling event. Total VOC concentrations in the effluent ranged from 0.6 pg/L to 1.85 pg/L during <br />the second quarter 2017 monitoring period. For remediation system operations, the Groundwater <br />Treatment Facility treated 15.9 million gallons of groundwater and removed approximately 0.23 pounds of <br />volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the landfill gas collection and destruction system operated <br />approximately 2124 hours and destroyed approximately 33,134 pounds of VOCs. <br />I certify under penalty of law, that I have personally examined and am familiar with the information <br />submitted in this document and all attachments, and that based on my inquiry of those individuals <br />immediately responsible for obtaining this information, I believe that the information is true, accurate, and <br />complete.
