Geo -Logic <br />A S S O C I A T E S <br />Geologists, Hydrogeologists and Engineers <br />July 14, 2017 <br />JN: SO17.1030 <br />Mr. Brendan Kenny <br />Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200 <br />Rancho Cordova, CA 95670-6114 <br />QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORT <br />SECOND QUARTER 2017 <br />AUSTIN ROAD UNIT, FORWARD LANDFILL <br />SAN JOAQUIN, CALIFORNIA <br />Dear Mr. Kenny: <br />On behalf of Forward, Inc. and in accordance with Task 6.a of the December 8, 2008 Cleanup and <br />Abatement Order (CAO) R5-2008-0714 issued by the California Regional Water Quality Control <br />Board (RWQCB), Geo -Logic Associates (GLA) is submitting this Quarterly Progress Report for the <br />Austin Road Unit (ARU) of the Forward Landfill. This Quarterly Progress Report has been prepared <br />to provide the information specified in Task 6.a of the CAO. <br />The information summarized in this Quarterly Progress Report has been compiled from a number of <br />sources, including Forward, Inc. personnel, consultants responsible for the operation and <br />maintenance (O&M) of the Unit's groundwater extraction and treatment system, and consultants <br />responsible for the 0&M of the facility's landfill gas extraction and destruction system. <br />All Work Completed During Previous Calendar Quarter to Comply with CAO <br />During the period of April 1 through June 30, 2017, the following work was completed to comply <br />with the CAO and other corrective action requirements: <br />The Quarterly Progress Report for the Second quarter 2017 was submitted to the <br />RWQCB on April 14, 2017, in accordance with Task 6.a. of the CAO. <br />Violations of the CAO <br />CAO Task 6.a indicates that Quarterly Progress Reports shall include a description of any violations <br />of the CAO during the relevant quarter. During the period of April 1 through June 30, 2017, treated <br />effluent discharged into the infiltration pond contained trace concentrations of up to three volatile <br />organic compounds in the monthly effluent samples. In addition, cis- l,2-dichloroethene and <br />tetrachloroethene were measured above the practical quantitation limit during the June sampling <br />event. Total VOC concentrations in the effluent ranged from 0.6 µg/L to 1.85 µg/L during the <br />monitoring period. <br />• <br />11415 W.
