9 AB 2030 (Hart, 1984) - Authorizes the closure of speci - <br /> fied highways to vehicles transporting hazardous wastes <br /> if certain requirements are met. <br /> 0 AB 2457 (Young, 1984) - Transfers enforcement, inspec- <br /> tion, and registration of cargo and vehicle tanks carry- <br /> ing flammable and combustible liquids to the CHP. The <br /> law also authorizes the Department of Transportation to <br /> approve local regulations on the restriction or prohibi - <br /> tion of use of tunnels on state highways for vehicles <br /> transporting hazardous materials. <br /> 0 AB 2239 (Sher, 1985) - Requires local agency underground <br /> storage tank permitting programs to be implemented by <br /> January 1988. <br /> a AB 3566 (Katz, 1984) - Enacts the Toxic Pits Cleanup Act <br /> of 1984, which sets restrictions on the discharge of liq- <br /> uid hazardous wastes into surface impoundments. <br /> 0 SB 509 (Carpenter, 1985) - Requires incineration of <br /> hazardous wastes with a heating value of more than <br /> 3,000 Btu's after January 1988 and sets other require- <br /> ments for the disposal of volatile organic compounds. <br /> 0 AB 2185, 2187, and 3777 (Waters, 1985, 1986, and 1987)- <br /> Requires businesses handling hazardous materials to sub- <br /> mit business plans outlining the location and handling <br /> procedures for all hazardous materials and an emergency <br /> response plan. <br /> 0 AB 685 (Farr, 1985) - Enacts the Hazardous Waste Reduc- <br /> tion, Recycling and Treatment Research and Demonstration <br /> Act of 1985. This act provides $1 million annually for <br /> waste reduction research and demonstration efforts <br /> sponsored by DHS. <br /> ® <br /> AB 3750 (Cortese, 1986) - Requires DHS to compile a list <br /> of hazardous waste sites and distribute this list to <br /> cities and counties in which the sites are located. <br /> 0 AB 2370 (1980) - Sets procedures under which DHS can <br /> designate hazardous waste properties and hazardous waste <br /> border zone properties.
