E
1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This appendix summarizes the results of slope stability analysis performed by
EMCON for the proposed North County Sanitary Landfill. The report satisfies the
requirements of the California Code of Regulations, Title 23, Chapter 3, Sub-
chapter 15, Article 9, Section 2595(f)(5), "Seismic Determinations 'and Slope
Stability Analysis."
Included in this report are descriptions of the following:
• Results from EMCON's investigation to determine the maximum
probable earthquake (MPE) expected to impact the site.
• Results from the stability analysis of the proposed excavation
slopes, and final slopes, under both static and seismic loading con-
ditions.
• Recommendations for grading of the proposed final landfill slopes,
and refuse slope and height.
1.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The proposed North County Sanitary Landfill is about 320 acres, located
approximately 1.5 miles east of the existing Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill. San
Joaquin County currently operates the Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill, ap-
proximately 8 miles east of Lodi, California. The landfill is expected to reach ca-
pacity by late 1990. The North County Sanitary Landfill is proposed as a re-
placement site for the existing landfill.
PJ9 9390217.00W 1 Rev. 0 May 23, 198'u"
