III. ADDITIONAL EXCLUSION PROCEDURES
A. SIGNS
Signs are posted at the entrance of the landfill which
list the types of wastes which arep rohibited. In addi-
tion to stating that hazardous wastes or liquids are not
accepted, examples are given in non-technical language.
Such examples include the common classifications listed in
Section I of this report. An example of the signs posted
at the entrance is given as Exhibit 3.
B. OBSERVATION BY SITE PERSONNEL
In addition to observations for prohibited wastes that are
conducted by the load check in the waste exclusion program,
site operating personnel are trained and directed to
notice and identify prohibited wastes which may be de-
livered to the site. These personnel include supervisors,
gate cashiers, and equipment operators. The equipment
operators play a particularly valuable role in observing
prohibited wastes which may be missed in the unloading
area by the load checxer as the refuse is spread over the
working face.
Training for site personnel has included briefing on the
load checking program and will also include classroom
2-M
