Waste Disposal Characterization:
A. Methodologies:
Basically, three sampling methodologies are available
for the initial study:
1. Quantitative Field Analysis:
A representative characterization of the solid
waste stream conducted using data collected in the
field from sources of generation, from diversion
programs, and/or from disposal facilities.
2. Regional Study:
A representative characterization of the solid
waste stream conducted on a regional basis. The waste
quantities are then attributed to the individual
jurisdictions of the region on the basis of
population.
3. Existing Data from Comparable Jurisdictions:
A representative characterization of the solid
waste stream derived using data from another
California jurisdictions) to characterize solid waste
generated.
B. Waste Characterization Study:
The County used the Quantitative Field Analysis method
and identified a full range of waste types in its initial
Chapter 2 - Waste Generation 2
