21. Exposure to Asbestos and Exposure Limits:
a. No more than . 2 fibers (longer than 5 microns) per cubic
centimeter of air for an 8-hour time-weighted average;
and for an excursion limit of thirty minutes, no more
than an average of 1.0 fiber per cubic centimeter of air.
b. The following engineering controls must be used to keep
asbestos exposure below limits: Isolation, Enclosure,
Exhaust Ventilation, Dust Collection.
C. The following work practices must be followed:
Asbestos waste and debris must be collected in
sealed impermeable bags.
d. Spills must be cleaned up promptly.
e. Materials must be wetted before removal from containers
unless exposure is controlled by ventilation.
f. Asbestos waste and debris must be collected in sealed
impermeable bags.
g. When engineering controls are not feasible, respiratory
protection for workers is required.
h. If the exposure may exceed the limit, asbestos
concentration must be determined (at employee ' s breathing
zone) .
i. Caution signs must be displayed at locations where w
asbestos fiber concentration may exceed the exposure
limit.
j . All material or scrap containing asbestos must bear a
label - CAUTION: CONTAINS ASBESTOS FIBERS. AVOID
CREATING DUST. BREATHING ASBESTOS DUST MAY CAUSE SERIOUS
BODILY HARM.
22 . Ventilation in enclosed places must be sufficient to prevent
flammable vapor concentration from exceeding 25% of the L.E.L.
23 . All corrosive liquids containers must be plainly marked with
a warning legend. Employees must use appropriate protective
equipment when handling corrosives. When employees handle
corrosives frequently, a deluge shower and bubble-fountain
must be provided.
24 . All Flammable/Combustible containers must be plainly marked
with a warning legend. Flammable liquids must be stored and
transported in closed containers.
a.
