c. The employer must post and enforce a set of operating <br /> rules for highlift trucks. <br /> d. Basic Operating Rules: <br /> Only trained and authorized drivers must operate <br /> forklifts. <br /> Stunt driving and horseplay are prohibited. <br /> Employees must not ride on the forks. <br /> Employees must never be permitted under the forks (unless <br /> forks are blocked) . <br /> The driver must inspect the vehicle once a shift. <br /> The operator must look in the direction of travel and <br /> must not move the vehicle until all persons are clear of <br /> the vehicle. <br /> Forks must be carried as low as possible. <br /> The operator must lower the forks, shut-off the engine <br /> and set the brakes (or block the wheels) , before leaving <br /> the forklift unattended (operator out of sight of, or 25 <br /> feet away from, vehicle) . <br /> The operator must lower the forks and set the brakes when <br /> in sight of, and within 25 feet of, but off the forklift. <br /> ,) Trucks must be blocked and have brakes set when forklifts <br /> are driven onto their beds. <br /> Extreme care must be taken when tilting elevated loads. <br /> e. Every industrial truck must have operable brakes capable <br /> of safely stopping it when fully loaded. <br /> f. Industrial trucks must have parking brakes. <br /> g. Industrial trucks must have an operable horn. <br /> h. When the operator is exposed to possible falling objects, <br /> industrial trucks must be equipped with overhead <br /> protection (canopy) . <br /> TRENCH/EQUIPMENT <br /> 1. Obtain permit from the Division of Occupational Safety and <br /> health District Office (DOSH) . <br /> 2 . The permit must be available for inspection at the job site. <br /> 3 . Job notification must be given to the nearest District Office <br /> of ROSH prior to digging. <br /> 4 .
