20. When loadingwhere there is a <br /> probability of dangerous slides <br /> or movement of material, the wheels or treads of loading <br /> equipment, other than that riding on rails, should be turned <br /> in the direction which will facilitate escape in case of <br /> danger, except when his position of the wheels or treads would <br /> cause a greater operational hazard. <br /> 21. Employees shall wear an appropriate type of steel toed boots <br /> or shoes at the job site. <br /> 22. Hard hats shall be worn at the construction site. <br /> 23. Ladders/ramps used as access in the excavation shall be free <br /> of defects. <br /> 24 . Employer shall read, understand and follow the Construction <br /> Safety Orders, Rules and Regulations prescribed by Title 8 <br /> California Code of Regulations. <br /> PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> 1. Eye Protection (or face shields) are required where there is <br /> an inherent risk of eye injury from flying particles or light <br /> rays. <br /> 2 . Foot protection is required when workers are exposed to foot <br /> injury from hot, corrosive, or injurious substances, or from <br /> falling objects, crushing or penetrating actions, or who work <br /> in wet locations. <br /> 3 . Hand protection is required for workers exposed to cuts, <br /> burns, or corrosive, irritating substances. <br /> 4 . Clothing appropriate for the work must be worn by workers for <br /> body protection. <br /> 5. Workers must not wear clothing saturated with flammable <br /> liquids, or corrosive or oxidizing agents. <br /> 6 . Noise levels above 90dBA are frequent during many construction <br /> operations. If noise exposures cannot be reduced to the <br /> allowable level, employees must wear acceptable hearing <br /> protection. <br /> 7 . Employees exposed to flying or falling objects must wear <br /> approved head protection. <br /> Note: Hard hats should be worn by everyone at a <br /> construction site. <br /> 8 . If engineering or operational controls are not practical to <br /> limit harmful exposure to airborne contaminants, a MSHA or <br /> NIOSH-approved respirator must be worn by exposed employees. <br /> - 11 - <br />
