0 6.1.6 Potable Water Supply <br />Potable water is supplied to the facility from the water well located south of the Maintenance <br />Building (Plate 2). Chlorination equipment, located in the pumphouse, and may be activated if <br />needed. Potable water is monitored for coliforms monthly. <br />6.1.7 Communications Systems and Procedures <br />Communications within the site are conducted with two-way radios. Hard -wired phones are <br />located in the scale house, the recycling center, and in the Employee/Maintenance Building for <br />communication outside the landfill property. A fax machine is located in the <br />Employee/Maintenance Building. Site managers and other key personnel are provided with cell <br />phones as needed. Computer work stations provide email and access to Solid Waste Division <br />server folders for the staff that uses those computers. <br />6.1.8 Lighting <br />Permanent lighting, including exterior mounted lights and interior lights, is provided at all buildings <br />including the Recycling Center, scale house, Employee/Maintenance Building and fire pump <br />house, as well as on light poles around the buildings and at the entrance to the site. <br />Operations at the active landfill face during hours of darkness, such as at 7:00 AM in December, <br />is illuminated with, at minimum, one six -bulb portable self -powered light assembly. Maintenance <br />includes checking the lights and replacing bulbs as necessary. In addition to the lights County <br />staff also checks fans, air conditioners, and lubricate motors. <br />6.1.9 Personnel Safety Equipment <br />All site personnel are required to wear County:issued personal protection equipment (PPE) as <br />follows: <br />• Hard hat <br />• Orange safety clothing per industry standards <br />• Safety glasses <br />North County RC&SL Page 34 of 68 Public Works/Solid Waste <br />Joint Technical Document County of San Joaquin — October 10, 2014 <br />
