11
C
Estimation of site life is based on the following:
• Useable airspace available as of March 2009, including capacity due to the increase in
landfill height to 320 ft elevation
• Approximate average disposal rate of increase of 3% per year from the 2009 disposal
rate.
• Average refuse density of 1000 pounds per cy (1000 Ib refuse disposed per cy airspace
consumed by refuse, daily and intermediate cover).
3.4 SOIL AVAILABILITY
Future total daily and intermediate cover needs as of March 2009, based on the waste quantities
above, are estimated to be approximately 8 million cy (Table 1 in Appendix B). This is based on
the approximation that daily and intermediate cover needs are 20% by volume of in-place waste,
plus construction of perimeter drainage facilities. This soil is available from on-site excavation.
Imported soil is not used at this time, and is not anticipated to be needed.
North County RC&SL
Joint Technical Document
Page 13 of 69 Public Works/Solid Waste
County of San Joaquin — February 10, 2010
