CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY CONTROL
The following procedures will be used during sampling and analytical
activities to provide chain-of-custody control during transfer of
samples from collection through storage. Recordkeeping activities and
tools will include:
• Field logbook for documenting activities in the field
• Sample labels to identify individual samples
• Chain-of-custody record sheets for documenting possession
and transfer of samples
• Laboratory analysis request sheet for documenting analy-
sis to be performed
Field Logbook
In the field, the sampler will record the following information in the
field logbook or on the boring log for each soil or ground-water
sample collected. Plate B-2 shows a typical water sample field data
sheet.
• Project number
• Facility name
• Name of sampler
• Source (i .e. , well or boring number)
• Time and date
• Well accessibility and integrity
• Depth of sampling interval for a soil sample
• Pertinent well data (e.g. , depth and water-surface
elevation, and casing diameter)
• Calculated and actual purge volumes for the ground-water
samples
PJ9 9390313.000 -9
4
