Extending the groundwater target area radius to four miles would add
approximately 2000 Tracy area residents to the groundwater target
population for a total of 31,000 (16).
There are no drinking water intakes in Corral Hollow Creek within 15
miles downstream of the landfill due to its unreliable flow. In
addition, the creek does not run more than 1 mile before it terminates
in the middle of a field. While the Delta Mendota/California aqueduct
canal complex supplies drinking water to the Tracy area, it is elevated
above any possible rainwater runoff route. In addition, the canals are
lined with concrete so a release of hazardous constituents to used
surface water by means of lateral migration is unlikely (7).
The Coast Range is habitat to the San Joaquin kit fox and the Valley
longhorn beetle, both of which are on the Federal Endangered Species
list. These species, however, do not breed in this region. Although
the Tracy area is inhabited by the large-flowered fiddleneck, it is not
a critical habitat for this plant.
3-15
sa/tm/chl/si
