Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill
Postclosure Maintenance Plan
Revised January, 1994
accept sewage or water treatment sludge" .
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill does not have a liner and does
not accept sewage or water treatment sludge; therefore, a leachate
collection and removal system is not required and is not proposed
in the Final Closure or Postclosure Maintenance Plan.
2.2 Groundwater
The current groundwater monitoring network consists of three deep
aquifer monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-3) and two shallow aquifer
monitoring wells (MW-4, MW-5) . MW-1 serves as the upgradient well
for the deep aquifer. An upgradient monitoring well for the
shallow aquifer is not possible because the Corchran Clay Member
does not underlie the entire site.
More wells may be installed, if necessary, to properly monitor the
site during the postclosure period. The monitoring wells are
currently being sampled quarterly and tested for the parameters
listed in the Waste Discharge Requirements under Ground Water
Monitoring which were issued by the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (Appendix A) .
The monitoring wells are currently being sampled quarterly and
annually for the parameters listed in the Waste Discharge
Requirements under Ground Water Monitoring which were issued by the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Appendix B) .
Groundwater monitoring will continue on a quarterly basis
throughout the postclosure period.
2 .3 Landfill Gas
A landfill gas monitoring system will be installed prior to
closure. The system will consist of monitoring wells. Each well
will contain three probes set at varying depths.
Landfill gas will be monitored on a quarterly basis. Monitoring
results will be presented in the form of a report to the Local
Enforcement Agency and the Board within 90 days of the sampling
event. The report will include the following items:
1) The documentation of date, time, barometric pressure,
general weather conditions, atmospheric temperatures, and
probe pressures.
2) The names of sampling personnel, apparatus used, and a
description of the methods used.
5
